OLD - Emily Bronte

For a character development assignment. I've always found the Brontë sisters fascinating, writing what they did when they did. Emily, authoress of Wuthering Heights, interested me in particular, for although she was very family and animal oriented, she was a private person with no friends. Dying at thirty also ensured there would be a sense of mystery about her. I tried to bring that isolation, creativity, fragility, and gentleness into the image.

I'm horrible at mixing my colors, so her gown and the shadows became a big purple travesty. Playing with the color balance of the scan helped a bit. One day I will paint a convincing rock.
